As the former MLA for Calgary-Buffalo and current MLA for Calgary-Mountain View, Kathleen Ganley understands the importance of strong policies designed to protect Albertans. She also brings that understanding to her role as the NDP Critic for Justice.
Kathleen acted as the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General from 2015-2019, utilizing and building on her experience as an associate in a private law firm specializing in labour, employment, and human rights law. Prior to that, she spent a summer as a caseworker with student legal assistance and as a research assistant with RESOLVE Alberta, a research network focused on ending violence against women.
As an active community member, Kathleen is a dedicated volunteer, and over the years she has donated her time to participating in many community activities, including providing student legal assistance, delivering patient care at the Foothills hospital, coaching swimming, counselling children's day camp and assisting with community theatre.
Kathleen holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Calgary, along with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in psychology.
